81°f by 9am, when I finally got up! That's 27°C. Way too hot, and too humid, too early.
I guess last week finally caught up with me, as i did diddlysquat yesterday! And went to bed at 9:30pm, really unheard of. And got up at 9am. Good grief.
But I feel well rested at last. A half of a small sleeping pill at night lately has helped a lot to be able to sleep despite the knee pain, which for some reason has gotten worse lately, not better. Maybe it's this humid weather?
So yesterday was a doless day, as is do less, as in being fairly worthless. I read blogs, started another Peter Mayle book, did a little laundry, roasted a chicken for dinner, and made a batch of dill pickles. And that was the day.
Today is usually booth day, but I stopped in Ripley on my way home Wednesday because we had sold that little chest of drawers and a cabinet so I knew there was tidying up to do. Ravenswood seems to be pretty quiet, and we stocked well there last week, so we can take a break.
Part of Larry's haul this morning: yellow cherry tomatoes. Sweetest little taste bites ever.
It is supposed to be super hot today, and very humid, so it's inside work again. I bought black cherries to make into jam because it's my Derek's favorite. I have bananas to use up in banana bread, a table full of great finds to price, and paperwork to catch up.
Larry has furniture to work on, so we will be busy enough. Tomorrow is auction pickup day, for the things I bought through an online auction Wednesday evening. It is always nice to visit the Beardsley auction house--great staff, a cheerful environment, and a beautiful drive along the Muskingum River. Just might have to include a stop in Marietta at our favorite lunch place there, the Lafayette Hotel's bar and grille, with its scenic view of the Ohio River.
Stay cool, friends!
Gosh, your garden is HUGE! The liquor dispenser is really interesting.
ReplyDeleteI guess it is, Angie, and yet it is so much smaller than last year. Seems tiny to me.
DeleteHot here too, though probably not as hot as you have it!
ReplyDeleteI keep hoping for a thunderstorm, but they are all staying north of us, darn it
Delete...a doless day, I have many of them.
ReplyDeleteEveryone deserves a day of rest now and then. Even you, Susanna!
ReplyDeleteI need to remember that, Catalyst.
DeleteIt's impressive that even on a "doless" day, you managed to roast a chicken and make dill pickles! Larry's dedication to the chickens and garden in that heat is admirable, and those yellow cherry tomatoes looks delicious. What a fantastic find with the Park Sherman liquor dispenser and managing to get all the original glasses—that's a true treasure hunt success story. Enjoy your black cherry jam making and banana bread baking, and have a lovely time at the Beardsley auction house and the Lafayette Hotel. Stay cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Melody!
DeleteThanks for the new word. I only wish I could remember new words. You work pretty hard even when you’re being doless. By the way, spellcheck does not like that word. 🤓
ReplyDeleteIt is apparently an old word, AC, probably brought to the Appalachians by the Scots-Irish. My neighbor was the first person I heard use it, describing someone known locally as a lazy guy. "Doless"was instantly defined for me from the context of her comment!
DeleteStay cool! You had a fairly busy day for being doless:)
ReplyDeleteYour doless day was still pretty busy. We are having the same weather here in KY. Too hot to do much of anything.
