I've Been Tagged by a Mouse

I've been tagged by my friend in the Adirondacks, CityMouse, who was tagged from across the big pond.

Here are the rules of this meme:

1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

So here are my six very random things about me:

Thing #1 - I don't miss the television.
Thing #2 - I love listening to radio.
Thing #3 - I like old houses, especially if they have hollyhocks or lilac bushes near them.
Thing #4 - I don't eat much meat; it's just not important to me, but I love eggs.
Thing #5 - I used to be able to dowse for water.
Thing #6 - I have seven sisters, all named Mary.

Now it's my turn to tag 6 other people. Here's my list:

1. Matthew at www.appalachianlifestyles.blogspot.com/
2. Grand Lake Life at http://grandlakelife.blogspot.com/
3. Earthheart at http://homesteadheart.blogspot.com/
4. Janet at http://www.janetsmart.blogspot.com/
5. Christopher at www.bubbasgotgas.blogspot.com/
6. Ellouise at www.ellouisestory.blogspot.com/

Okay, friends, it's your turn!

  1. Susanna, I've posted my very interesting facts about me on my site. But I cheated I only gave it to 3 other people.

  3. Why can't you still douse for water? I didn't know people lost such abilities. Just curious.

    Also, seven sisters named Mary?

It was interesting reading the six things about you!

  4. I suppose I still can. I just haven't tried it in a long time. It's a very strange feeling when the dowsing rod begins to quiver and bend, even though you're doing nothing to make it act that way.

When we needed a well drilled, an old man came and dowsed for us. We drilled where he said but didn't hit good water. However, he had told us it wasn't a very good site, and showed us where he thought was best, which was an impossible place to drill.

Then he showed me how to hold the peach stick and look for water myself. I did it and it was just amazing to feel the stick move in my hands. I hit on the same places he did, or very close by. I saw what he meant by the difference in the two sites--the impossible one was so strong it nearly pulled the stick from my hands.

When we drilled our current well, we did not dowse for it. I was in college, working and had a baaby so I was barely aware of the drilling process. That well was so deep, I don't know if a dowser would have found water there anyway! It's 730 feet deep. but our driller has been known to be able to locate water so perhaps he dowsed it. I never thought to ask, and truthfully forgot about it until I was listing the 6 things.
