Graduation Night

Moon
Through trees
Branches soft
With evening mist
Diaspora lit
Flames on new graduates
hot with knowledge of freedom
and frightened too of the future
golden moonlight on the path ahead
painted shadows in unknown dark of night

  1. Beautiful, frightening and thrilling, all together; you capture the moment so well! I've got one sitting here wondering 'now what' LOL (hoping she gets into the college she chose!) but congratulations to yours!

  2. Thank you, Susan. My grandson found out today that his college of choice placed him in the honors program because of his SAT score. He;s proud but nervous. My youngest son (who is only 5 years older than the grandson) learned that he's getting a LOT of financial aid because of his grades. It's quite something to see them moving on. Scary but exciting too. Our job, I think, is to provide the net and the safe place beneath them while they try their wings.
