My hometown restored their hearse and I told ghost stories near it at an event last year. In the town I live in now the town hearse was bought by subscription! If you had a subscription you could have a ride when you needed it. When they went to funeral parlor and an auto the town sold the hearse to a farmer who removed the wheels and made a chicken house out of it. ( Early recycling) I used those facts and wrote a Town Ghost Story, The Ghost Hearse" will be a bonus story in a small book I'm self publishing.
Rose, isn't it pretty? The inside is nice too. And Joyful, I agree! What about renting it for a wedding (some people think that's the same as going to your funeral!) or...hmmm, possibilities.
Jason, it's a pretty expensive piece, I think, so I don't know if they leave it outside too much in the weather. It was sold at one time, and one of the Stump family happened to see it at an auction and bought it back and had it restored.

Well might as well make your last ride a memorably cool one ;D
ReplyDeleteWow - now that is traveling in style! I would have this out surrounded by pumpkins and such for Halloween!
ReplyDeleteInteresting!
ReplyDeleteI guess you might as well go out in style and I love Mountainword's idea of decorating it for Halloween.
