Ridge road, just before the "pole-bar" hill, almost home
The ridge was in darkness as I drove home.
The ridge was in darkness as I drove home.
It will be like this for several months
as winter covers the land with its icy blanket.
November, followed by frigid December,
the deep freeze of January
and unpredictable February
follow each other in a bone-piercing reign of ice.
The moon, a gilded ornament
in a landscape of black glass
glinted overhead
glinted overhead
as the road led me surely to my home and fireside.
Lovely. If you'd added a creepy element these pics would have done well for a Halloween story.

Love your poem and the photo of that stark, crescent moon.
ReplyDeleteThat road looks kinda eerie in the dark; gets the imagination up and running! Pretty shot of the moon.
ReplyDeleteThanks all--it's a lovely, quiet little road, especially at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! So exciting!
