Winners! Contest #2

We again have 2 winners for the second "What Is It? contest. WV Simplicity identified the tools as irons for putting ruffles in cloth, and Jeanne correctly named the irons--"Goffer Irons." I have some pretty smart readers here! I don't think I would have ever thought of ruffles and cast iron together in the same thought.

So Jeanne and WV Simplicity, please email me at with your snail mail addresses and your prizes will be on the way. I want to add that I never use your addresses for any other purpose, as past winners can attest.

We will have one more contest so be ready!

I've watched my grandmother use irons like these, heated on an old Majestic cast-iron stove. Detachable handles so one could be heating up while another was being used.
Thanks for the memories

I love this sort of thing. I'd like to see a hands-on museum of such old things with demonstrations on how to use them.
