Make It Pretty Monday--Spring Gardens

Photos from around our home. Spring is so incredibly beautiful, isn't it? Our place is surrounded by forest, a kind of green oasis with no other houses in sight. Country living has some benefits that are not necessarily apparent on the surface--and the work it takes to create a home and gardens in the woods is not really apparent either. It's taken 35 years to look like this, using only our wits and a lot of hard work to make it happen.
This is a new addition to our gardens. A neighbor was getting rid of her picket fence, so we took it off her hands :) It makes a nice entranceway to the house.

Green, green, green, with pink and white accents.
..and the old red truck and the old man for accents too!

The lettuce bed is overflowing with Red Sails and Green Ice lettuce and Cherry Belle radishes.

That's our Spring Garden Tour! Now, back to weeding.

  2. What a beautiful place. Lucky you.
I am so jealous. I think it is really my place and there was some sort of mix-up. So, until this mix-up is fixed, you guys are perfectly welcome to stay there and by all means keep up the good work.
    Love it!!!!

  3. This photo essay goes beyond "eye candy." It's "eye vitamins." Good for the soul, too.

  4. Angela, lol! I'll call you when it's time to mow or weed!

Thanks to all three of you for your kind words. It is work, but so worth it when we sit on the porch in the mornings and soak it all in. Completely refreshing and renewing.

  7. It's all so beautiful. I love country living too. We can see our neighbors in the winter when the leaves are dropped but soon we won't be able to see them for awhile.

  11. What a lovely place. We live in a secluded, wooded area too, but gardening has been difficult. How do you defend against deer, groundhogs, and rabbits?? They regard my poor flower beds as a salad bar.
