30 this morning, light overcast after a beautiful weekend. We had rain on Friday, and were so thankful.
Still here, family visiting for deer season and applebutter making. So you know I've been cooking! Some photos from the past weekend, which Facebook loaded in random order.
Sons and great-grandson taking care of the applebutter kettle.
Some walked up to see Sarah's cabin.
Pretty Michaela having tea.
About half of what we made, in the kitchen for divvying up.
At the beginning, the kettle full to the brim with applesauce. Look at the steam roll!
At the end of the day, a celebratory dinner of ribs at the Yacht Club!
Ryland in the coop, gathering eggs.

The old folks, checking progress.

You have been busy with preserving all the produce. Nice to have all the family members engage in it.
ReplyDeleteAngie, it was so much fun. Used to be just Larry and me, then our son Derek got into it, and it has just grown ever since. We were still missing about half of our crowd, but it is impossible to get everyone together these days.
DeleteLooks like a wonderful tradition and a good time! Kathy near Chicago
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy! I am thrilled that my sons and grandchildren are into this, and will, I hope, be able to carry it on when we are gone.
DeleteWas that TG early, or are there more celebrations to come?
ReplyDeleteWell, we didn't do a big dinner, AC, just chili, etc. But yes, it kinda was a Thanksgiving. We will have dinner on the usual day, just Larry and I, one son and his 2 daughters.
DeleteI loved looking at your pictures! I have never made apple butter before but I love that you do it on such a big scale! I do enjoy apple butter, though, and now I'm thinking I would like some on toast. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteHow fun is that?!?! You could open a B&B where your guests help you can! How did deer season go?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great family gathering, complete with traditions. I hope they continue if there is someone to gather the apples.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a happy time, Sue.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great family activity...and it was good to see you in some of those pics too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a crew carrying on a wonderful family tradition and creating new memories. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great day :)
