The snow is melting as temperatures warm into the 40's. I admit, I'm sad to see it go. This has been the most beautiful January we have had in years. Today on our drive to town I snapped photos, trying to capture the magic before it is gone. These were all taken along our 4-mile long one-lane road, and of course, all were taken from a moving vehicle with my phone, so not the best quality.

I admit, it looks nice. But really, I am glad we had near to nothing... I can´t wait for Spring. With the cellar underneath it is always cold inside.Yes, I know others are off way worse.
ReplyDeleteAnd yours really does look nice.
Snow is different in the country, I think. It doesn't get as ugly when melting and doesn't cause as much difficulty as far as where to put it when clearing streets!
DeleteSuper photos. The best camera is the one that you have at any given time. You can visit here for more snow for about two more months. 😊😎
ReplyDeleteI would love to get up into Canada but hubby has zero interest, sadly.
DeleteLooks so beautiful covered in snow....we don't have much snow this year..here is just GREY.
ReplyDeleteThat is our usual winter, at least in recent years. I don't mind grey days, though occasional sunshine is nice!
DeleteBeautiful photos. Winter's not over yet. February is the biggest snow month for us. We shall see if we keep up with January's trend.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the weather forecast we have milder weather ahead until the latter part of February. Then winter returns, apparently.
DeleteYikes. I am imagining the drive on your roads with that snow, melting or not. But it is beautiful and you have caught it very well. We have at least another month of this kind of view up here in the frozen north, but at least it is somewhat warmer and the wind is down. the daughter got a snowshoe walk in yesterday.
ReplyDeleteOne must pay close attention, and go slow! Our van is all wheel drive which is actually better than 4WD. The truck is 4WD, up here just does not make sense to have anything else.
DeleteCleanse and renew, that how I look at snow. It is beautiful and has served its purpose, now it is time for the next phase.
ReplyDeleteYes! Time to pull in a bit, relax, and enjoy until time to get on with it again.
Delete...enjoy the snow while you can.
ReplyDeleteThe best way!
DeleteOh how beautiful it is! So I think what on earth your tires and car's ability to drive on it must be! Four miles on such a smooth but one lane road! Wow. Thanks for looking out the window with your camera!
ReplyDeleteAll wheel drive is amazing. The van will go quite well until the snow is over 6". Then it's time for the truck to take over.
DeleteThanks for the ride-along!
ReplyDeleteOur snow is not melting, but it was sunny yesterday. Still cold. We are supposed to get warmer this week, which will be wonderful, but just having a bright sunny day was a definite mood lifter. Well. That and a cute little puppy.
ReplyDelete😊
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely photos that remind me of my days in North Dakota. I'm wondering if that's a one-lane road what do you do if you meet someone coming the other way?
ReplyDeleteSomeone has to back up until there is a spot wide enough to pass, Catalyst. There are a few pull-off spots, and then there are driveways and mailbox pull-ins that offer a bit of space. In this weather people are driving slower and very carefully. Even in good weather, folks are pretty careful. Those blind curves and hills have seen their share of fender benders though. And several people end up in the ditches in snowy weather too.
DeleteI came by from your comment on my post, which you found via blog friend Nance. Where do you live? That looks like a lot of snow for an area that doesn’t get it often. Your pictures are beautiful. I grew up in Alaska and California, so a few years of a LOT of snow (Alaska) and many years of NO snow (California). I remember how ugly it gets when you go too many days without fresh snow and you live in town. I remember how beautiful it is when it is fresh and clean. I have never had to really deal with snow as an adult, so I love it.
ReplyDeleteI live in West Virginia, J, and we used to get snow like this every year. But last good snow year in my part of the state was 2003, so this has been a treat. Other parts of WV have had more snow most years than this western side of the state.
DeleteIt sounds like you have had it both ways! I have never lived anywhere except here and Virginia so I have little experience with a no-snow environment!
Winter snow is a rare treat. We have lots here and with continuing cold temperatures in the forecast we will be able to enjoy it still.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes regret not emigrating back in the 70s when I was looking into it! But neither my first or second husband would have gone along with that idea!
DeleteA beautiful ride but glad you kept a close eye on the road! A blanket of snow is a delight to the senses, as long as it doesn't stay too long!
ReplyDeleteIt is melting and there are patches of ground showing now. The deer and other wildlife are happy!
DeleteOh, sorry, but I detest snow with all my might. This winter has been a nightmare for me. I cannot wait for all of it to be GONE. It's a barrier to all I want to do.

DeleteI understand, and I think you're in the majority, Nance!
DeleteWe in Michigan are longing for 40s!
ReplyDeleteI bet! Hopefully it's coming your way too.
DeleteI didn't realize you lived so far off the beaten path. Who plows your 4 mile road? You had more snow than we have had here up north of you in NH. The cold temps have been chilling!
ReplyDeleteOur little road is State-maintained, Marcia, although they don't do the best job. Still, at least they plow it nowadays. That was not the case for the first 40 years I lived here. Our driveway is 1/3 of a mile long, and Larry usually plows it with our tractor if needed.
DeleteSuch pretty snow! We have had a lot of it too, but I didn't get out to photograph it. We've had so much of it nearly this entire month, and I'm about ready to be done for a bit! It's not even Feb yet, and I'm ready for March and the first spring ephemerals.
