39°f/about 3°C this morning after an evening and night of wild weather.
What a night. High winds, incredible downpours, thunder, lightning, and hail that was huge in places south of us, and damaged hundreds of car. We had hail too, but not like that. However, a big tree fell on a neighbor's house, and another blocked our road. That neighbor, poor guy, had a tree fall on his house several years ago too. What are the odds?
Today we had a lashing of hail and rainaround 10am, and the wind is still fierce but slowly dying down. Thank goodness.
And I am sick. Apparently all that work did me in! Not really, I guess I just picked up a bug when we were out Friday---what i get for having a good time, right? This is just a head cold, I think, and I have all the proper meds on hand. So I am running on low speed today, but still able to do stuff, just v-e-r-y slowly, and resting in between.
I guess hat makes it worse is my knee is still pretty awful at night. The only thing that helps is an icepack which somehow seems to quiet down whatever is causing all this pain. It is pretty miserable, and my sleep is so broken up that it feels like I haven't slept at all.
I can't remember if I told you that the bloodwork came back normal. I swear I had hoped for an infection so I could get the right drugs and that would be that. The only things the doctor could recommend was more therapy, or cortisone injections--which is what I wanted to avoid by having the knee replaced in the first place. I am debating the therapy; when I was going before it seemed to make my knee even worse. But maybe? I just don't know.
But. On the bright side, granddaughter Sarah is coming from Colorado again, and will be here tomorrow night! It is always such a pleasure when she's here. And the meds have me feeling pretty human, so I will be fine when she's here. I can't complain because I haven't been sick in about 18 months, which is pretty good considering all the bad stuff going around this past winter.
I'm so sorry to hear you are sick -- no fun whatsoever. And then the knee on top of it. That's a tough decision to make and I send good thoughts that you'll guide yourself to the right one.
ReplyDeleteThe more research I do the more I am convinced that is is a nerve issue, Jeanie.
Delete...never take feeling good for granted!
ReplyDeleteAin't that the truth
DeleteSo sorry you have caught something and it's laying you low. Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI took a fall this afternoon. There are two steps up to the porch and the second one is just a bit taller a step. Well, I was noticing the package from the tea merchants on the porch and didn't raise my right foot high enough for the second step. I went down on my left knee with quite a bang. Felt it in the hip too. I was leaving in a few for a meeting at church, so stopped to pee and put arnicare on the knee. I grabbed an ice pack too. As I drove north I starting thinking that this wasn't the wisest thing to be doing after a fall. After 2 miles I turned around and came home. Dan had me put my legs up and the ice pack on properly. I know I will be stiffer tomorrow. I felt so stupid for taking that fall. But nothing broken.
That just sounds so painful, Marcia. Good thing you turned around. I always feel so shaky after a fall.
DeleteSorry to hear about your weather and sickness. We have had strong winds today, but not storms. Since I retired from teaching I have not been getting sick. So many germs in schools :(
ReplyDeleteI noticed a marked decline in sickness when I retired too, Michelle.
DeleteI will comment tomorrow in my blog about how fun it was to have the high winds in an airplane trying to land in Asheville today! Sorry that you're feeling bad, and I just am super pissed (yes ladies may have that feeling) that your knee isn't behaving properly.
ReplyDeleteOh my! That hadn't have been ....interesting!
DeleteQuite a mix you have there, but good you can see the bright side, too, and will have a nice visitor!
ReplyDeleteThere is always a bright side, isn't there? I just have to remember to find it!
DeleteTake some rest and slow down, Sue. It has been raining on and off here too and will be the same next few days.
ReplyDeleteI am planning to take a sick day today, Angie. Feet up and plenty of fluids is the goal.
DeleteI haven’t had a head cold in a long time. Hope my luck continues and that your woes end soon. Have a great visit with your granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteYes, here's hoping you continue in good health, David!
DeleteSorry you're poorly today - I hope it goes quickly. Speaking of quickly, though...your "low speed" sounds like my highest gear ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's funny...especially coming from someone who cares for a herd of goats and builds fences and barns! You amaze me.
DeleteBummer. I hope the medical people figure out that knee soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you. On to the next step, I guess.
DeleteYou know, when I hear about your knee, it sets me to thinking at night. I sure hope I have better results.
ReplyDeleteI seem to be in the small percentage that have issues after tkr, Debby. The more I research it, the more sure I am that it is a nerve issue. But only a few people have this issue. Most are like my husband and are right as rain within a few months.
DeleteTake care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying. It's hard to do though.
DeleteI'm sorry your knee continues to be painful. Nights of poor sleep make it hard to do what you'd like to do the next day.
ReplyDeleteThe weather sure doesn't sound great either. I hope it improves for the weekend. Have a happy Easter.
It sure is a bummer. Not what I expected at all.
DeleteHope you get better soon, it stinks being sick.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry that your knee is still causing problems for you. I hadn't heard of anybody before who had issues. Like Larry, I sailed through both of mine.
