Booth Work

71°f, about 21.6°C, very foggy start to the day, then sunny and humid, warming to 90°f by afternoon.

Today we stocked our booths at one of our locations. Here's a bit of that one.

We traded a formidable topped table for the oak one in the above photo on Tuesday. The top of this had stains that would not sand out, so yesterday I painted and applied several coats of polyurethane to it. Normally I wouldn't paint oak but in this case it was the best option. We already had the chairs so we just married them up with the table.

I had been putting aside nautical-themed items for a few months and finally had enough for a display.

I have somehow amassed quite a collection of soup mugs, and even a tureen.

And then there are these beanpots, which have been selling lately rather well.

I do love this dresser set, but I fear celluloid is out of style these days. It may have to go on ebay  to find a new home.

I am surprised that this little chest of drawers has not yet sold. It's always a guessing game as to what will sell, if and when

Tuesday we stocked our Ripley booth on our way to get that oak table. Here's the dinette set we picked up on Sunday, all set up in the booth.

A few more photos from the same booth:

Sweet little piggies salt and pepper set was a find at the recent 4th of July flea market. We kinda crashed that event the night before it opened, as there were good finds to be had early.

The suitcase had been painted a bright orange, so I gave it a re-do.

Someone went to great trouble to make this lighted bottle.

Suitcases were fast sellers but they have really slowed down this year. The ebb and flow of fads in this business is not easy to keep up with.

Tomorrow I have no big project staring at me. The gardens are okay for the moment, the booths are taken care of...maybe I will cut some herbs for drying. Or? Pretty sure i will find something to get into!

    1. Here we have stores that will rent out spaces, like a shelf, or a wall, or small "rooms". They charge by the square foot, usually. An 8'x10' space in my area rents for about $100 a month. The store owner also usually charges a commission--where we are that's 10%. Each vendor can stock when and what they want, and each vendor is identified by an ID on their tags. So we don't have to be there to sell, which is really bice.

A good idea to display things as they would be used..the table and chairs with the settings

    1. Yes, it seems to help people visualize the things in their own home.

  3. Lots of choice for those still acquiring more stuff. We are at the other end of that spectrum!

  4. Do you let someone buy one of something or do things have to go as sets?

    1. It depends, June. The chairs usually go as sets, but most glassware is priced by the piece. Not all though, some arebprivmced as sets of 4, or 2, for example.

  6. I've an old oak table...with planks that don't quite meet. But it was a gift...and I just use something thick if I'm writing across the cracks. Loved the red set too! Just wonderful memories.

  7. Sometimes with wood you do what you have to do. The table looks lovely and I like how you have it dressed. You have beautiful booths!

  10. Everything looks great - hope you have lots of sales.
Since you got so much done, you could relax for one day and be lazy!?!
