67°f/19°C, clear. Another hot day ahead. 88°f yesterday.
What a pleasure to find that we could see the sun come up over the lake from our motel! I was sure it would be somewhere behind us, as we were facing west, but apparently we were looking just enough eastward to catch its early rays.
Town was quiet as we drove through to our breakfast destination, Mary's Kitchen. Such a pretty place, with a view of the lake from the porch, where we had breakfast. Corned beef hash! Rarely do I see that on a menu anymore. And served with marbled rye, on Fiesta Ware plates. Fiesta is made in West Virginia, so it's always a pleasure to see it in use in restaurants.
As we left town we decided to get a cup of coffee for the road. Nice little place, and check out this sign! Made me wish we'd eaten there!
I was sorry to leave Geneva. The place had given me just what I needed, and I wouldn't have minded more of it! Simple pleasures, in an old-style summer resort. We will go back, or at least go somewhere similar along Lake Erie. I left a piece of my heart there.
Next stop: a bridge with a glass floor.
You should visit the other side of the lake sometime. 😎
ReplyDeleteWe plan to! Just need to get those passports renewed.
DeleteSuch lovely views of the sun over the waters! Looks like a fun trip yesterday and today. I've lost track of where we are going but I'm sure I'll find out in your next posts... ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having fun.
ReplyDeleteWe did. Wish we could go back already!
DeleteThat sign is great!! This looks like it was a wonderful break for you both. No glass floored bridge for me.
ReplyDeleteWe sure needed it. We never did take a vacation of any sort last year.
Delete...someone has an interesting sense of humor.
