Mostly Wordless Wednesday

a aaaa44°f/6.7°C, clear and dry.

A Great Spangled Fritillary took a rest outside my window.

All dressed up and ready for the display window at our Ravenswood booth.

It was a perfect evening for the firepit. Our pets love it when we have a fire.

I am unpacking fall decor, so out comes Mothman! The festival in nearby Point Pleasant comes up this month.

I worked on pricing things for the booths yesterday. This is one of about 40 beautiful doilies I bought from a friend who is downsizing.

Also priced things for eBay, including these pretty pink stems, Rosaline pattern, made in France by Arcoroc.

This stopper from a 1970's tall decanter, made in Italy, sold for $59 the day after I listed it. I found it for $1.99 at a thrift. Those bottles were quite the thing back then, and were very inexpensive. They have suddenly become quite collectable and pricey.

Here is a pair of similar decanters in my booth.

Little Boy hurt his foot and leg Saturday while we were gone. It swelled and was bruised. He was a sad fella all day Sunday, but by Monday was pretty much back to himself. The swelling is gone, thankfully. We thought we'd be off to the vet Monday morning but fortunately that didn't have to happen.

Granddaughter Cassie's fiancé, musician Steven Cooper, was featured on an Apple podcast last week that focused on his lipstick stratocaster guitar. It was an education for me, as I know very little about guitars of any kind. If you're interested you can watch it here.

Two pics from the Ohio River Sternwheeler Festival's Facebook posts. One shows one of the sternwheeler races, the other is a then-and-now photo of Marietta.

Across the river in Williamstown,  West Virginia, we came upon this quirky store while looking for a spot to take photos of the boats. We didn't go in.

Maddie milk. Can you see the cream line? I saved it from this jug, as that was a lot of cream! It's in the freezer until I decide how to use it.

Last, two recent finds at a yard sale, Blenko Glass "West Virginia Day" pieces from 2002 and 2006. To get one of these, you have to stand in line for hours and hope they don't run out of that year's limited number of pieces. These will go up for sale on ebay soon.

Leaving you with this funny from Facebook. It was certainly on point when the weather suddenly shifted!

  1. I may not have seen milk with cream like that since the 50s.

    1. I haven't seen it since our last milk cow, in 1987. I have certainly missed it.

  2. Lots of pretty glass. I don't think I've ever seen milk with cream at the top.

    1. It's a rarity these days, certainly. I am so happy to have found Maddie and her cows.

  3. I went to Blenko Glass when I was staying in Huntingdon, and I have quite a few pieces of glass from Pilgrim Glass which was by the airport.

    1. Really! I did not know you had visited WV. I never went to the Pulgrim plant, but they made some beautiful glass too.

  4. That's what our weather has done. We turned on the heat for a time this morning.
After our Covid and flu shots we stopped in an antique store and almost came away with a Lane cedar chest for $95. One problem - it was on legs and wouldn't fit under the window where we want to put it.

    1. We found this odd, flat mannequin at Goodwill. I call her Twiggy! I got the wedding dress a few years ago for a dollar at an auction, and the veil at a yard sale. So I just needed a head, which the mannequin didn't have! I made one from a foam head and a mask. Now she just needs a wig.
