Colors and Leaves and Flowers, Oh My

40°f/4.4°C. Rain overnight has ended it seems, bit of sun but cloudy.

The color here has been just heart-stopping this week, but the wild rain and gusty winds of the past 2 days have really brought down the leaves. All good things must end I suppose, but I hate to see the color come and go so quickly. Our leaves were slow to change this year for some reason; we seemed to lag a week or so behind past years.

This graveyard used to be our nearest neighbors. They are pretty quiet, and always keep their yard neat, but all those fake flowers!

There are still plenty of blooms in the gardens, thanks to the mums and zinnias.

This is a type of tender African mum; it bloomed all spring, then started again recently. I dont think it will survive the winter, but I really like it and will plant again if I can find it next year.

Those crazy zinnias!

The orange mums were planted last year. The yellow ones are in a planter. I may put them in the ground later.

Pink mums from last year's planting, geraniums and zinnias.

And look who came to visit this week! He and a clouded sulfur butterfly and a couple pearl crescent were in the flowers this week.

  3. Lovely color in both the trees and your fabulous flowers! So happy to see the Monarch also, they have been very rare for me to see this year.

  4. Just beautiful. The rain and wind brought down a lot of leaves here, also.

  8. No more blooms for us - it has gotten too cold at night. But we are used to that. The trees have been gorgeous, though!
