50°f/10°C, clear.
The gardens are looking pretty straggly now, with weeds making inroads a d things dying back, but there are still plenty of blooms. Here's some of what's still going.
Snapdragons that I planted in the spring are still hanging in there, but this one is the best of the lot.
Zinnias, however, are thriving, and the blue Veronica salvia is still doing well.
Another pot of wild-haired coleus, with some impatiens. I left these for now. That's geraniums in the background.
My $1.00 pot of geraniums, bought on clearance at Tractor Supply, is still doing great. I may bring this one inside over the winter.
Fireside evening, with begonia in a little pot on the table. We have had firepit fires several evenings this week. The cool weather is perfect for it.
The crazy yellow climbing rose has another big bloom, way up top, as if to keep me from cutting it! The thorns on this thing make me long for falconer's gloves when dealing with it.
Linking up today with Floral Friday.
I'm amazed that you can keep track of all of the different plants and flowers you have!
ReplyDeleteLearned over years, Ellen, and there are some i do not remember the names of.
DeleteOh I'm so jealous of your $1 geranium while my $30 one has been very sparce all summer. What a waste - all because it was ready early when I wanted one. No way will it be carried forward!
ReplyDeleteBarbara, my more expensive ones were not nearly as pretty as this one!
DeleteYou still have a lot of color. I'm down to geraniums! Love the blue bike in the photos. Great contrast.
ReplyDeleteThe bike was in my friend Rachel's garden, Jeanie, and she gave it to me when she moved to Florida. We stuck it there temporarily, and as you can see, there it stays!
Delete...my garden is a bit ho hum now.
ReplyDeleteWell, you are quite a bit north of us, Tom
DeleteA veritable Garden of Eden.
ReplyDeleteGot a meme from a friend yesterday which said: if Ina Garten married Dannie DeVito, she'd be Ina Garten DeVito. I had to ask him and he explained the old song: In-a-gadda-da-vida. I told my wife and she got it right away before I could reveal it.
DeleteThat is pretty funny! I did get it too, on reading it. But might be harder just hearing it.
DeleteYour garden looks so nice for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteIt's straggly in many places, Marcia, but still plenty of blooms.
DeleteIt must be nice to have seemingly hundreds of blooms still.
ReplyDeleteIt is! One or two areas look pitiful now, but there's still plenty to keep my eyes happy.
DeleteI love that blue bike! You have got such a wild variety of flowers. I love it!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not a planned garden! More of a cottage garden, I guess. The bike came from a friend and was just put there temporarily last year...but there it still is!
DeleteYour flowers are still doing fairly well considering the summer you had. I have a single pink rose up high on a prickly rugosa. I'm not about to try to cut it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am happy with them considering the heat and drought. Will we ever have a normal summer again?
DeleteWonderful scene with the bike. And so much in bloom! Here.. nothing. Oh, and the fire, wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAw, I guess your season is really over, Iris. I would not like to have a shorter growing season.
DeleteSnapdragons are wonderful! We call them "Lions mouth".
ReplyDeleteI like that name! I had never heard it before.
DeleteI very much enjoyed seeing your flowers.
ReplyDeleteLots of flowers carrying on into fall! When is your usual first frost?
ReplyDeleteIt used to be Sept 21, but now is Oct 10, FG.
