Hillbilly Hotdogs!

Should you happen to be traveling along the Ohio River on Rte 2, you might notice this meek little joint nestled under the trees at the roadside:

Indeed! The one and only Hillbilly Hotdog stand. Well, not the one or the only, since they have another location in downtown Huntington for the more urbane tube steak aficionados. But this one, I think is the best with its rural location and zany decorations.

Inside, feel free to scrawl your name anywhere you can find a clear spot.

Same thing outside, actually. There were 4 guys dressed in that office casual style who pulled up in a car with Florida tags. They looked a bit overdressed and a little stressed as their car plowed a deep furrow in the gravel--I hope the muffler stayed attached but if not they can rest assured it will become part of the decor at Hillbilly Hotdogs.

I've always wondered how people can leave their license plates behind...maybe it's a state of mind?

Larry liked this guy:
I liked the door with its signatures over signatures. When we were here in 2007, there weren't nearly as many names on the walls, and the buck was a little less decorative too.

The fries were actually good--it was getting my picture taken that put the snarl on my face.

Flowers a-bloomin' even if they're plastic.

Either it's safely in dry dock, or that last flood was a humdinger. It's been there long enough for little trees to be growing in it though.

So if you're in the mood for a put stop--try Hillbilly Hotdogs. I guarantee you'll come away smiling.
