46 this morning; it's been a warmer than usual week. Rain expected tonight. We had heavy, wild rain on Saturday with lots of wind.
It's been a whirlwind around here, with lots of family in for the weekend. It was so good to have noisy little children underfoot again; it's been a long time since we had that many children under 10 in the house at one time. I keep a selection of toys for them in the "pit" as we call it, and they claimed that area as their own.
It was really special to have 3 of my 4 sons home at the same time. This happens rarely as everyone gets older and busier. Maybe soon I can get all 4 together.
We also had our granddaughter from Colorado and grandson from California home, a very special treat. Our family is far-flung these days, from Florida to Tennessee, California to Virginia, with some still here in the Mountain State. It's a thrill to see what they all get into as they follow their career paths.
Big news is that granddaughter Hannah had her baby! Elliana was born Monday morning and weighed 7 lbs, 13 ounces, a nice size. Momma and baby are home but we have not yet been over to see them. My mother always said to wait 2 weeks before visiting a new baby, maybe because of germs? Or maybe to just let the mother get some rest. I don't think I'll be waiting that long, but probably at least a week.
I've been getting family packages ready to mail today. It's been a mammoth task. Usually I mail things out over a few weeks, but this year I have them all to do at once. But now it's done, hopefully in time to arrive before Christmas.
And of course, I am still working at the antique mall on Sundays and occasionally other times too, and will probably do so for a while yet. Our sales have been crazy good, and this has been the best month ever, following the last best month ever last month. Furniture is scooting out the door faster than we can keep up, which is great. But next week I really need to get back to work on some projects. I haven't lifted a paintbrush since before Thanksgiving.
So all is definitely not calm and quiet around here, but it's definitely all good.
How wonderful to have a house full of relatives! And a new great grandbaby! Hope you all have a very happy Christmas, in case you get busy and don't have a chance to post again!
