41 this.orning, mostly cloudy. Big ring around the moon last night.
Lights, lights, lights! Last night was all about lights. After an afternoon of finishing up our Christmas shopping, we drove south to see what the small communities of Point Pleasant and Gallipolis were up this year. Each year both towns, just a few miles apart on the banks of the Ohio River, put up light displays. What would they be like this year?
Well, the lights were amazing. We did not stop for the lights at Crodell Park; Larry is often a man on a mission, going straight to wherever he thinks we need to go first. So sadly we missed those, although we could see them as we whizzed by. I really should drive, but then how would I take pictures?
Our first destination was the West Virginia Farm Museum. I told stories here in the late 90s when I was first starting out as a storyteller, but have not been back since. We really need to put this on our list for 2024, because it is a great museum, chronicling early agriculture in our state.
So here are a few of the lights at the museum. Larry was again driving too fast for good photos; he forgets! But I managed to get a few fair ones.
Then it was on to Gallipolis, where we were lucky enough to find a good parking place because the place was crowded with happy people. Young couples with babies and older children, groups of teens, a few old folks like us, everyone was strolling and smiling. It was just...joyful, that's the best word for the atmosphere.
Wonderful display! Happy Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI now see where we were in relation to you. Point Pleasant was just north of our travel route. We went light sightseeing last night as well. Most of the houses around here are into those inflatable characters, only turning on the power at night. Looks great at night, during the day, it looks like a graveyard full of deflated Christmas characters.
ReplyDeleteYou got some very nice pics, well done!
ReplyDeleteI need to know about the white rabbit. I'm off down a google rabbit hole...which seems fitting. Merry Chrsitmas!
ReplyDeleteSome really great lights!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pics!!! Also of the two of you! I was in the city on Friday to take some pics, too - yours made me smile a lot bigger! Thank you and Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI am not trying to pun when I say that it is a most delightful time of year.
