63°f and cloudy after another rainy day and night.
We have been out the past two days. Tuesday we had to pick up a dresser and that pretty green desk to deliver to the lady, a friend, who bought them but had no way to move them. A heavy-lifting day, as I also had to rearrange furniture in our booths to cover the 2 new empty spots, plus two other holes created by the sale of 2 other dressers. Good sales this past week! Which is great, but do I have anything ready to go in? Nope, because my brain has been all garden all the time.
Yesterday we were out again, this time to pick up cardboard, mulch, and straw in the truck. More work ahead, as soon as we can get a few dry days.
We stopped for lunch at Shari's on Tuesday, and heard these two stories from friends we met up with there. First, Arlene said she had a friend who was talking to her (the friend's) husband about what happens after death. The two had been spatting that day, just little things, but the wife was feeling pretty annoyed still. So when her husband said, "I wonder what God will say to me when I get to the pearly gates?", the wife replied, "I don't know, but he better be in a good mood that day!"
The second story came about as we were discussing Mothers Day gifts, then gifts in general. I mentioned that a few years ago when my sons asked what I wanted for Christmas I told them that I wanted a taller toilet. They thought that was hilarious but they gave me Lowe's gift certificates and that is just what we bought.
A young lady who works across the street overheard our conversation and added her story:
"My mother said the same thing! She wanted a taller toilet! So a couple years ago I bought her one, the tallest one Lowe's had. I had no one to install it, so I got on YouTube and did it myself. Put in tbat grease seal thing and everything. It worked great, but there was one little problem. My mother was thrilled with her new "throne", but she was so short her feet didn't touch the floor when she sat on it!"
Ah, life. It's the little things, isn't it. Well in this last case, the little people. Which reminds me of this photo of me with granddaughter Ally.
All three are into their adult lives now, Ally as a eating disorders counselor in Florida, Jared managing recreational Marijuana stores in California, and Clayton just leaving the Navy to embark on a cross-country road trip and life as a civilian. And me, older and apparently a half-inch shorter!
I love those pictures of you with your grandchildren. My husband and I are shorter than we used to be too. 😊
ReplyDeleteYour grands are some tall ones!
ReplyDeleteI envy Clayton and the adventure he has in front of him. I hitchhiked across the country right out of high school. Would not recommend that nowadays!
ReplyDeleteIt so happens that we will be getting two toilets next week. While tall would be nice, they have to get under shelves here, so normal commodes will have to suffice.
ReplyDeleteShrinkage! It continues to amaze me!
ReplyDeleteYou are not short at all, it's just that your grandkids are all very tall.
